Gio wants a Woman’s Day to remember

Thursday is not your average day for racing, but that’s what it is when Killarney’s Woman’s Day Wingfield Power Tour races go down on 9 August. One lad who is intent to make it a Woman’s Thursday to remember is Franschhoek young gun Giordano Lupini, who endured a tough first part of the season, but he has also recently enjoyed a better run and intends to keep on improving aboard his Accelerate Special Gasoline/La Vie de Luc/CIR Construction Golf 1 in Class C of the Burly Pro GTi Challenge.

“We’ve had a far better run over the past three races with two pole positions and a few good points paying finishes,” Bridge House College matriculant Giordano conceded. “I celebrated breaking my bad luck with a small mistake last time out, so this week it’s all about keeping it clean and giving it my best shot. “The last race was awesome with four cars covered by four-tenths of a second at the flag and while Marco and Dario Busi hold a strong championship advantage, who knows what will happen — there are still 8 races to go, so we keep on pushing.”

Giordano is in the middle of a three way fight for third in the hyper-competitive Class C with experienced rivals Jacques Geldenhuys and Chris Swart, so he’s looking for best results. “It's time to turn my pace into wins and reward Brian, the MRD team and my dad for all their efforts and to give my mom a Woman’s Day to remember, Giordano smiled. “We’re out to make it one for the ladies — bring it on!”
