Coetzee scores at a wet Killarney
Durbanville kart star Jason Coetzee overcame the challenges of a wet and howling northwester to win Senior Max and dice to a strong second in DD2 at Killarney’s sixth round Western Cape karting championships on Saturday.
Jason put it on pole for Senior Max, but Andrew Rackstraw made to work in the first race before Coetzee bounced back to win the second and third races to take the day as he consolidated his championship lead. “Senior was a bit harder this time,” Jason admitted. “We never had the set-up quite right, but well done to Andrew on that first race win. “It was much drier in the second and third races — we also got the kart right and won them both, so I’m pretty happy with that.
“DD2 was awesome though — I had a good clean battle with Umpie Swart in all three races and Dino Stermin was with us too — we got through some pretty close dicing without anyone crashing. “Umpie was in the right place at the flag in the first two races, but I am more than satisfied with three second places and second overall too. “I need to thank my folks, my teammate Umpie, my main man Cleopas and the whole SAKRA team — see you back at Killarney in two weeks!”
