Oosthuizen wins, Swanepoel's star comeback

Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Racing kicked its 2019 South African National Enduro Championship campaign off in winning style, when William Oosthuizen rode to E1 200cc victory and Brett Swanepoel enjoyed a most encouraging comeback to end fourth in Open class E2 in the ultra-tough WFO New Hanover Enduro in KwaZulu Natal over the weekend.

“What a super awesome weekend at the first national enduro of the year,” an elated William Oosthuizen from Mossel Bay explained. “It was a tough day out on the track and I'm super happy to kick the season off with a win — now the work starts for the next one. “Special thanks to my incredible team for my brilliant Pepson Plastics Husqvarna and a big thanks to Dylan Bauer for helping me when I got stuck in the mud hole — you are a legend!”

“It was absolutely wonderful to be back on my Pepson Plastics Husqvarna in anger again and I managed a good result too,” Salt Rock rider Brett Swanepoel admitted. “I have been patient and worked so hard to get back in a racing saddle after a year and a half away, so that fourth place is a bit more like a win. “Special thanks to the team for believing in and supporting me through it all — it’s onward and upward from here!”

Pepson Plastics Husqvarna’s third rider, Nottingham Road lad Matthew Green had a positive run aboard his E1 200 class machine, but he retired on the final loop of what proved a torturous route. “We’ll be back,”  Matthew summed it up. “That was a tough weekend but the season is long.”

“Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Racing enjoyed a solid start to the SA Enduro season,” Husqvarna Motorcycles South Africa brand manager Fred Fensham concluded. “William Oosthuizen delivered a great E1 win and Brett Swanepoel was a fine comeback fourth — well done to the entire team on a great effort at a super-tough New Hannover race.”
