Lanz adds to another kart ladies 1-2-3

South Africa’s leading karting lady Fabienne Lanz continues to write the motorsport history books. This time the Northern Regions Max Challenge championship leader may not have won at Vereeniging on Saturday after an issue on her kart caused her to exit the second race, but a couple of wins each side of that saw her onto the second step of another all-girls’ podium between winner Shannon Jackson and third-placed Rachelle du Plessis

“Yes, Saturday another great day for the ladies and I’m delighted for Shannon on her first win,” Fabienne explained. “We had a good day but we also had a mechanical failure in heat 2, but it’s OK as now I can drop a lower finish points as we have had good results all year,” the NR Max Challenge championship leader admitted on another very good day for women in South African motorsport.

It was also a good day for Fabienne’s fledgling karting team, which runs a team that includes no less than seven drivers in the baby under-8 Cadet class as Moosa Kajee ended second, Luke Hill and KC Ensor-Smith in 5th 6th and 7th and Anton Lombard, Ian Joubert and Alex Carle in places 10, 11 and 12.

“Our kids — especially in the Cadet class impressed me so much,” Fabienne concluded. “Our babies all did their personal best lap times — two of them were in their first race and ended within 4 seconds of their experienced front runners, which is really grand.”
