Fighting spirit from Young Alibhai

South Africa’s international kid karter Aqil Alibhai enjoyed another solid weekend back at home, when he ended fourth overall in the sixth round of the SA Northern Regions Kart Championships in Vereeniging on Saturday. 9-year old Aqil is in his first season of primary school karting and continues to show great form against his older and more experienced class rivals.

“I’m quite happy with a good weekend’s racing,” Aqil admitted. “We were a little short of pace at Vereeniging, but there were only three points between Jordan Brooks in second and me in fourth, so it was good for the championship. “We were third in races 1 and 2 and fourth in the final, which is cool, but I have four more years in primary school karting so I am very happy to be so well placed.

“My overseas karting has helped my pace and I hope to get even better soon,” Aqil concluded. “We still have a busy end of the season starting with the seventh round of the Super One series at the PF International Kart Circuit in England in two weeks time.”
