Red-Lined Motorsport racing together with the Penta Motor Group, ended its 2021 South African season in perfect style when Eben Basson crowned an epic rookie year with a double win at the Inland Off-Road Championship’s Vryburg Molopo 600 over the weekend. Basson driving his Red-Lined branded VK56 alongside Leander Pienaar, wrapped up the Northern Regions FIA production class championship to add to his splendid sixth overall in the South African national championship

Teammate and GTC SupaCup refugee Johan de Bruyn, delivered a brilliant second overall on his cross-country debut aboard his newly acquired OdorCure VK56, alongside the more experienced Gerhard Schutte in Friday’s race. The pair then showed some great resolve on day two as they fought their way home to be classified finishers on what turned out to be a challenging day. 

And then to wrap up a great weekend, 17-year-old Taryn Marsh made her long-awaited driving debut alongside her father and Red-Lined team principal Terence, who for the first time in his career read the notes. Taryn went on to successfully finish her first event with a second in class with the father and daughter pairing recording a clean and calculated run in their Red-Lined Polaris XP Pro.

“What a great way to end off what has been a brilliant and adventurous season!” Red-Lined team principal Terence Marsh admitted. “A double victory for the weekend and the TIORC FIA title is the perfect tribute to Eben’s incredible rookie year. “Johan showed great versatility to hop from his wings ‘n slicks track Polo into the somewhat wilder VK56 and then to be as competitive as he was. 

“Young Taryn completed her driving debut with flying colours. “My first experience in the navigational seat kept me on the edge of that seat as much as it gave me a few more grey hairs!

“This of course wraps up an incredible, if somewhat challenging year of racing for us. “We are proud to have our all-new FIA class REVO up and running and showing brilliant potential in both Conrad Rautenbach and Eben's hands, to have taken the TIORC title with Eben, and then our incredible Kalahari Rally 1-2-3 clean sweep earlier in the year. "We also cannot forget Philip Botha and Roelof Janse van Vuren’s incredible record breaking 100% finishing run in their rookie South African Championship.season.

“At the end of the day, the real backbone of our operation is our technical team. “Just their effort in turning Eben’s race car around from its roll-over damage only a week ago, to stand pristine on Friday’s Molopo startline is tribute to their incredible skill and commitment. “We need to thank and salute every single member of the Red-Lined Motorsport family for their unbelievable support and team work throughout the year.”
