Dunlop celebrates Geomax dirt tyreswith riders of every persuasion
Dunlop Tyres’ recent Day in the Dirt proved a great success for all who attended the fun day of dirt riding. Families and friends, from amateur riders to the pros and Dunlop’s Geomax champions too, all enjoyed a wonderful day of riding and fun that also included the reveal of some revolutionary new Dunlop Geomax knobby tyres.
“Dunlop’s first Day in the Dirt proved a splendid success!” Sumitomo Rubber CEO Lubin Ouzoux confirmed. “This was a wonderful opportunity to showcase our market-leading and championship-winning Dunlop Geomax dirtbike tyres and also give something special back to our customers with the chance to sample our dirtbike tyres first hand on some of the latest machines.”
Open to all bikers, from pro riders to Sunday fun seekers, the Dunlop Day in the Dirt had something for everyone. “The first Dunlop Day in the Dirt gave our riders, customers and dealers had opportunity to try all our latest tyres out in the exact conditions they are designed for, on a variety of the latest dirtbikes,” Dunlop off-road motorcycle tyres distributor, Henderson Racing’s Mark Henderson explains.
“We had two strokes and four strokes across the capacity categories to show off our special Geomax tyres. At the same as time enjoying what we do best, we also underlined how serious Dunlop also is about dirt bikes and motorcycles in general,” Henderson added. “This event is not about racing, because we race all year round. “Dunlop’s Day in the Dirt all about focussing on our customers and a bit of fun!”
One of the highlights of the day was the reveal of the latest range of the latest range of Dunlop Geomax dirt bile tyres including the revolutionary new AT82 enduro tyre. “Our new Dunlop Geomax AT82 is the first bi-directional dirtbike tyre on the market,” Mark Henderson elaborates. “That means, if it’s sandy, you put the scoop side toward the traction and if it’s hard, then just flip the tyre on the rim and you have the perfect hard edge for ultimate hard traction.
“So two birds with one stone in one of the most exciting dirtbike tyre trends to hit the market in quite some time!” The refreshed Dunlop Geomax tyre range also includes the MX34 full synthetic soft motocross race tyre, the Dunlop Geomax MX 53 synthetic intermediate tyre, which is better suited to full more durable and longer lasting for hard-packed tracks, and the new MX 14 sand and mud tyre.
“Best of all is that all the latest Dunlop Geomax tyres are now freely available in South Africa,” Henderson concludes. “And that includes all the very latest Dunlop Geomax tyres that you see winning in the ‘States right now, where Jett Lawrence, Tom Vialle and RJ Hampshire’s three 2024 titles have just brought Dunlop’s US Supercross and Motocross championship count to 181 and counting!”
UB Leisure TFC Sleepover Honda Wing Racing with Tork Craft and Dunlop Tyres Geomax National Senior Cross Country champion Louwrens Mahoney was delighted to share his Dunlop experiences with riders of all abilities from far and wide. “The Dunlop Day in the Dirt was very special and something a bit different,” Louwrens admitted. “So huge thanks to Dunlop for making it possible for so many riders to come out and test all Dunlop’s special dirt tyre compounds. It’s a pleasure to give back a little to the sport and to the industry, and for Dunlop to benefit from all they have done for us and the sport. This past season was my first year on Dunlops and all I can say is that I am converted!”
“The Dunlop Day in the Dirt was a huge success and everyone was raving about it! CEO Ouzoux concluded. “It was so cool to see riders of all ages, shapes and sizes, families, friends and every rider type from our champions to first timers all out there just for the love of riding and enjoying themselves to the full. Rest assured, next year’s Dunlop Day in the Dirt will be even bigger and better!”
