Trademore Group to sponsor Cross Country Motorcycle Nationals

The Trademore Group of Companies has taken up the title sponsorship of the 2022 MSA South African National Cross Country Motorcycle Series. Trademore, a company dealing in among others, petroleum, paraffin and feeds, and the MSA Cross Country Motorcycle Working Group confirmed the tie-up which will also strive to develop the sport and make it even more attractive to competitors across the board.

“It is an honour for Trademore to be asked to be the title sponsor for the 2022 MSA South African Cross Country Motorcycle Series,” Trademore Group of Companies owner Kim Lawrence du Plessis confirmed. “We find so much pleasure and adrenalin in being able to give back to a sport that means so much to our children, family and friends. “We also want to help riders who love the sport, but find it really tough to compete due to financial pressure.

“We have made so many special friends and visited beautiful places in our beautiful country that we'd likely never have seen were it not for this great sport. “We salute all the racing organisers and parents who give up their precious time and money to make it happen. “We are confident that 2022 will be a special season with Kyle and the MSA Cross Country Working Group’s ideas, so may 2022 be a truly special year for us all. “Safe racing from the Trademore Group of Companies!”

“We are extremely grateful to Kim Lawrence du Plessis and the Trademore Group team for backing us for 2022,” MSA Cross Country Motorcycle Working Group chair Kyle Enslin added. “MSA and its Working Group has put loads of effort in to bolster a vital facet within local motorsport and the MSA Cross Country Series has made good, steady progress over the past two years.  “Now having a world class title sponsor in the Trademore Group further solidifies our gains and successes.

“The MSA Cross Country Working Group would also like to take this opportunity to salute our 2021 South African champions, Bradley Cox, Mike Pentecost, Davin Cocker, Wade Blaauw, Greg Nairn and Dylan Jones. “Overall and OR2 champion Bradley Cox enjoyed a splendid season on his Brother Leader Tread KTM. “He now joins the long line of SA Cross Country champions including his dad Alfie, to tackle the Dakar in January. “We wish him the best of luck in Saudi Arabia!

“Our OR1 open class champion Michael Pentecost is the epitome of what we are trying to achieve in Cross Country racing. “Mike was scratching along on a banged-up old bike and begging used spares and tyres when CiT Franchise Co came along and put him onto one of its brand new Kawasakis. “Mike never looked back and went on to beat the biggest names in the sport to steal a fairytale title. “That’s what it is all about! "We also greatly appreciate Pepson Plastics' Iain Pepper's efforts to bring Kawasaki back to our sport.

“Davin Cocker showed a steely resolve to bounce back and swipe a tightly fought last gasp OR3 title for Rockstar Husqvarna. “Moving onto our elder statesmen, Wade Blaauw was unbeaten as he stormed to yet another over-36 year old Senior championship on his Roost KTM. “And Greg Nairn fought hard on his Husqvarna for his over-46 Masters title.

“Last but not at all least, the junior classes. “Dylan Jones did the hard yards through the season on his KTM and cruised home to clinch a close High School title. “Cobus Bester won the last three rounds on the trot en route to take the primary school age Interprovincial 85cc Junior championship. “Our junior primary Interprovincial 65cc class is meanwhile nurturing our Cross Country heroes of the future. “We cannot wait to watch them develop and thrive.

“Now we look forward to an epic 2022 season as the Trademore Group South African National Cross Country Series. “It all kicks off with the the first round outside Pretoria on 26 February before five more punishing races all around the country. “Bring it on!”
