Home team keen to score in East London Endurance weekend

Not only does East London born multiple karting champion Kwanda Mokoena return home to race his Audi R8 LMS GT4 in his home town in the weekend's GT and endurance series double header, but he will be sharing the car with his famous uncle, too. Kwanda and none other than Qumbu's own multiple racing champion Tschops Sipuka will be chasing glory at the Grand Prix Circuit Friday and Saturday.

“I grew up watching uncle Tschops racing all over the country,” Kwanda explained. “He was my great inspiration to get into motorsport, even long before I started karting at the age of six. “It is going to be an honour to drive with my uncle and we shall do our best to bring the car home in our home province on the podium in our Amandla Coal MJR Racing Audi LMS GT4 R8.

“We practice and qualify on Thursday, and the races are on Friday and Saturday. “I will start the one hour Sprint race and then Tschops and I will then compete in the 4 hour endurance together later in the day. “As always, a big shout out to all my sponsors, Marius and my MJR Racing team and my parents for making this possible. Eastern Cape we are here.

“I was born at St Dominics hospital in East London, so best of all is that I will be going home this weekend and that means that I will see my Grandma and Grandpa and all my relatives who all live here in East London!  So this is going to be a very good weekend. “We can’t wait!”
