A tough day at the races but all good experience none the less

TreasuryOne Motorsport duo Hennie de Klerk and Adriaan Roets never had the best of runs in the Weekend’s TIORC Northern Regions Mareetsane cross Country race, but the event afforded the entire team a great opportunity to prepare for its Dakar 2022 campaign across all fronts. De Klerk and Roets are campaigning the team’s BMW X3 while the TreasuryOne Amarok goes through a nut an bolt rebuild ahead of the Dakar and the Beemer certainly putting the team to the test.

“We are going through the throes of getting the BMW fully raceworthy and we hit a few reliability issues once again this weekend,” Hennie pointed out. “But a tough day at the races is not necessarily a bad thing. “So we actually had a great day overall and some good seat and prep time in the car for Adriaan and me, while our car problems tested the team in the field too. “We had a few electronic issues and then a broken propshaft which put us out, but our pace was good too.

“The next part of our preparation will see us off to Namibia in July for dune training. “Werner from Oppesite Lock in Walvis is planning an adventurous trip for us to Moab, 260 km one way and 260 km back and we are also planning to visit to the ‘Devil's Workshop’, which speaks for itself from a difficulty perspective! “All in all, we are happy with our Dakar preparations — the TreasuryOne Amarok rebuild is coming along fine and the old Beemer is keeping us sharp. “Now for Nam!".
