South Africa's premier Touring Car Championship caters for a growing field of world-class race cars designed to thrill race fans and tempt consumers.

Originally based loosely arouns Australian V8 Supercars, South African Touring Cars carry the same body as their street kin wrapped around a purpose-built race chassis and powered by an engine from the maker’s range. Top class SATC cars feature that same common chassis, running gear, and Electronic Control Unit to control performance on their 2-litre turbocharged engines.

South African Touring Cars also run control specification Dunlop slick tyres, suspension and many other components to equalise performance between competing cars, leading teams, drivers and carmakers. A second SATC SupaCup class races turbo 2-litre powered hot hatchbacks as a breeding ground of future South African race stars. 

South African Touring Cars is fought out between Gazoo Toyota Corollas, BMW 328tis and Volkswagen Volkswagan Golf GTI SATC cars. South African Touring Cars runs around South Africa as part of the Extreme Festival roadshow at Kyalami Johannesburg, Killarney in Cape Town, Zwartkops in Pretoria and  also ALdao Scribante in Gqebehra, and at the East London Grand Prix circuit.
