G+H Extreme Supercars ready to thrill Pretoria

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the G+H Extreme Supercars and National GT3s, which left Aldo Scribante with a fortnight to prepare to take top billing at the coming Saturday 11 June’s aptly titled Supercars and Pocket Rockets Regional Festival at Zwartkops. If the action in the past few meetings is anything to go by, Pretoria race fans can look forward to some incredible midwinter supercar racing this weekend.

So far in the four races that have comprised this year’s championship, it’s been a bit of a game of cat and mouse. It started with Cape Town lad Dane Amgel and his Autohaus Angel Porsche 911 GT2 Turbo showing the locals up at the season opening Passion for speed races at Zwartkops, before Pretoria’s Jonathan du Toit’s Trans Africa Racing Lamborghini Huracan turned the tables to win the second round in Angel’s Killarney, Cape Town back yard.

Both those races followed Angel’s turbocharged high altitude and du Toit’s naturally aspirated seaside form, but du Toit then beat both Angel and Franco Scribante’s similar turbo Porsche with his atmo Lambo back at Zwartkops. Moving on to Port Elizabeth last week, Charl Arangies finally brought his gun to the gunfight to defeat du Toit and his Lamborghini in a splendid and super fast Aldo Scribante Supercar shootout.

So what will Zwartkops’ fifth round G+H Extreme Supercars races bring? It’s Jonathan du Toit and his orange and white Lamborghini’s home track, but what will Charl Arangies roll out when his Stradale Into Africa transporter rolls in from the Vaal Triangle this weekend? Rememeber, champion Charl used five or six cars to take last year’s title. And will those boosted turbo Porsches take advantage of that thin winter’s highveld air on Saturday?

Rest assured that the highlight of the Supercars and Pocket Rockets day G+H Extreme Supercars will not only be the fastest, but also the most spectacular cars at Zwartkops. The action also spreads through the field, with individual battles like the National Balance of Performance  GT3s, where Gianni Giannoccaro's Stradale BISC Nissan GTR R35 takes on title contender Greg Parton’s Drizit Lamborghini Huracan and Mark du Toit in a Trans Africa Ferrari F430 GT3, among others.

In the classes, Marius Jackson’s MJR Audi R8 LMS GT3 will fight young lion Kwanda Mokoena’s similar Amandla Coal GT4 machine and Deon du Plessis’ 247 KTM X-Bow. Add Cape visitors Mansoor Parker’s Jive and Ammaar Coetzee’s A&M BMW M3s up against locals, Uli Sanne and Jimmy Giannoccaro’s G+H Transport BMW Z4 Coupes, and more.

Yes, the G+H Extreme Supercars make for a great spectacle all alone, but add a full dawn to dusk race program to keep you on your feet. Diarise it now!
