Jozi lad Alibhai Ready to Fight in Front in UK Championship

South African lad Aqil Alibhai embarks on his second season of British Ginetta Junior racing at Donnington Park, England 23-24 April. Former two time African Junior Max karting champion Aqil moved to Elite Motorsport for the season-ending Winter Series following a learning year en route to seventh in the 2021 Junior Rookie standings. He won and placed second in two of the races at that Brands Hatch weekend and has since enjoyed strong testing form at several UK circuits in the off season.

“I am delighted to confirm that I have joined Elite Motorsport for the 2022 Ginetta Junior Championship in the UK,” Aqil confirmed. "Last season was a great learning year and a solid start to my car racing career. “My aim is to consistently score podiums and ultimately challenge for the championship this year. “Elite Motorsport has the perfect package to achieve those goals which is why I joined for 2022 — this is big time for Ginetta Junior!

“I've already learned many things, like the ability to control a race car at speed in all track conditions, while respecting my rivals, the officials and the rules, and to enjoy my racing and have fun. "Elite Racing is big on the importance of my feedback to my engineer and the team and I'm also racing in a very competitive team this year. “My Elite teammates, Will Macinty, Joe Warhurst and I have been in the top six through testing, so I'm really looking forward to fighting in front this year.

“We are delighted to have Aqil Alibhai on board for 2022,” Elite Motorsport’s Eddie Ives admitted. “We have a very good Ginetta Junior team with second year drivers Aqil and Will leading our six driver team for this year’s programme. “Our Junior squad had a tough 2021, so our aim is to bounce back and reclaim the Driver’s and Teams’ titles this year. “We wish Aqil and the lads the very best for the season ahead.”
