Chemical Logistics Racing chasing gold in East London

Chemical Logistics Racing heads to the East London Grand Prix Circuit looking to return to Global Touring Car winning ways following its first barren weekend of the season last time out. Still, team leader Robert Wolk arrives at the fifth round National Extreme Festival races in the strongest championship lead he has enjoyed so far this season.

“The previous meeting was frustrating and satisfying all at once,” 2021 GTC champion Robert reports. “A win was on the cards in race 2 but there was contact, which hurt my Chemical Logistics Toyota Corolla GTC and I had to rather limp home in third to score some valuable points. “Happily, we still fared best of the frontrunners and I managed to extended my title advantage a little. “So, this weekend is all about managing that lead while also chasing another win or two.”

Julian van der Watt has also won a couple of races so far in 2022, but his success has been mixed with less than his fair share of bad luck too. “I was happy to be back in the mix in my Chemical Logistics Ford Focus RS GTC last time out,” Julian points out. “So we will be looking to keep in the lead bunch and maybe even steal another reverse race win at fast and challenging East London this weekend. “The Grand Prix Circuit is my kind of a track, so bring it on!”

GTC rookie, Andrew Rackstraw has endured a frustrating rollercoaster season so far aboard his older Audi “It’s been a tough learning year,” Andrew reported. “I have had some good pace at times but never really when it matters with the old girl, which has been a little too brittle so far. “So, let’s see if we can coax a reliable weekend out of my Investchem RDSA S3 at one of my favourite racetracks.”

“The whole Chemical Logistics team is fully focussed on returning Robbie to the winners circle and a step forward for both Julian and Andrew at the historic East London grand Prix Circuit this weekend,” team manager and WCT Engineering boss Stuart Thompson promised. Team principal Ian Schofield concludes, “Robert is still ahead and we are heading to some challenging tracks where his experience will really count. “Good luck lads, let’s go get that silverware!”
