TreasuryONE two bounce back in TIORC thriller

TreasuryONE Racing duo Hennie de Klerk and Adriaan Roets bounced back from a collision on track to bring their battered Amarok home to a dramatic victory in the Leniesdeel 300 Inland Off Road Championship race on Saturday. The intrepid pairing fought off some formidable opposition for a welcome victory in an important facet of their 2024 Dakar preparations.

“We will remember this one for sure,” Hennie de Klerk explained as he emerged from what was left of the TreasuryONE Amarok following a most eventful day behind the wheel. “We started sixth and had a good day, except for a collision when we clipped a side-by-side we were lapping on our second tour. “The Amarok went over the top of their car and rolled over back onto its wheels. “It was a bit of a mess -- we stopped to help as the navigator in the other car had a sore back.

We were later given the 20 minutes we lost there, back, because we lost that time assisting the other crew. “When we got back to the car, we thought it was all over, but it turned out that while it looked horrible, the damage proved superficial. “So, we ripped off what was left off the right side of the TreasuryONE Amarok’s bodywork, jumped back in and fought the Red-Lined army to a most memorable victory!”

“It’s a pity about the accident and disappointing that it happened, and we hope that the other crew recovers soon. “It doesn’t look very pretty but the damage looks far worse than it is, and our trusty steed will soon be ready for another day. “The Amarok was brilliant all day, Adriaan was on point inside and out of the car and our special team delivered once again and great to stand on top of the podium after a difficult dry run.”

De Klerk and Roets will continue their journey to Dakar at the Bronkhorstspruit SA Rally Raid National on 20 August, where they will race the Amarok as they prepare to switch to their new WCT Engineering-built FIA T1+ class TreasuryONE Toyota Hilux later in the season. “The Hilux has proven a major project and we have been delayed by a few parts like our Sadev gearbox. "As such, we will delay our Dakar plans to 2024 with a few exciting projects for '23. "We are sure that when it is ready, the Hilux will be well worth the wait.

"We’re also confident that the team will buff all this out no problem and we’ll be back for the next round at Bronkhorstspruit in August!“ As it once again proved today, the TreasuryONE Amarok has more than enough life left in it!” de Klerk concluded. “From there, the plan is to have our new car ready to race for the national final in Parys.”
