Memorial service, lap of honour this week

Race fans can celebrate the life of South African race legend Peter Gough, who passed away Thursday, at a memorial service at the WPMC Clubhouse at Killarney International Raceway 16h00 Friday 12 May. Killarney's Saturday 13 May raceday will also be held in Gough's memory, with a minute's silence observed and a lap of honour including among the cars Peter drove to glory.

Gough, who will possibly best be remembered for his three-wheeling antics aboard Willie Meissner's Ford Escorts in late '60s Group 5 races, enjoyed a young and fruitful career through which he was among others, 1965 SA Sports Car Champion, 1969 SA Saloon Car Champion and 1971 WP Argus Saloon Champion before taking a racing hiatus and returning to win 1995 Wesbank V8 Class B title.

Motorsport Media expresses its sincere condolences to Peter's family and friends.
