Duminy comes to life in the cool wet

Ballito kart racer Daniel Duminy was delighted to bounce back from his racing doldrums to win the Senior Max class at Saturday’s third round Laserfiche Raceway Vereeniging Gauteng Northern Regions Karting Championships. SMD FA kart driver Duminy, who has been out of luck in both his recent karting and main circuit duties in the Engen Volkswagen Cup, is thrilled to be back on top of his racing.

“What a day!” Daniel grinned. “I qualified on pole position, but race one was a bit of a shambles and I had to drive back from last to third. “I started third in race two and that literally turned out to be the race of my life — I ended up winning it! “Then I started race 3 on pole position again and I led every single lap to take first overall!

“So it’s only on and upwards from here and hopefully I can do the same at my home track for the karting national at iDube soon and also enjoy a step up in the Polo Cup race in East London this coming weekend. “Saturday was such a solid day — thanks to Ricky and Jeandre for all the help, and to RKT racing and to the marshals and officials.”
