Mokoena takes Mini Rok in the wet

Paulshof lad Kwanda Mokoena continued his charge in a sodden Northern Regions primary school Mini Rok karting championship round at Vereeniging’s Laserfiche Raceway with a solid win in treacherous conditions. Mokoena also had a positive run in Junior Max, where he produced his best results so far with fifth in the high school class.

“I had a great day at the races today,” Kwanda smiled. “We won Mini Rok again, but it was a bit more difficult in the pouring rain and I had to deal with an on-form Jarrod Waberski, who stole a heat from me, but well done to him — it was a great race. “Racing in the wet is always challenging but I really enjoyed it - maybe we can take it to Cape Town for the Mini Rok national there — I will be just as happy as the locals if it rains down there on Saturday!

“I also had a pretty good run in Junior Max - that kart is bigger, heavier and much more powerful and we also race against some really quick and competitive guys there. “It’s taking a bit of time to get used to all that but we are getting there and Saturday was a step forward - so it was a great weekend all round. “Thanks as always to my dad and family and to my karting family too — my mechanic Thabs, Elijah; my manager Vaughn Williams and to Ettiene and Wayne from RKT.”
