Boyd fights big guns on DVS debut
Cape Town kart racer Sebastian Boyd took an impressive step up to South Africa’s quickest new karting series when he took a close third overall in the inaugural DVS class at Killarney’s Western Province races on Saturday. Boyd, who normally races in the high school Junior Max class, made a strong impression against some strong open class drivers on the day.
“I put it on pole position, which I’m pretty chuffed with,” Sebastian admitted. “Then I had some good dices in the races - veteran Arnold Neveling beat me by 0.3 seconds in race 1 and then I ended up just 0.6 seconds off Kohen Bam in race 2. Arnold beat me by 0.6 seconds in the third race, but Kohen managed to get between us, so I ended up third and third for the day.
“I really enjoyed racing this DVS kart — it’s two seconds quicker a lap than I am used to and a thrill to drive. “Thanks to my dad and my Boyd Boss Freight team for all the work — that was a really fun day’s racing!”
