Visser takes positives from Academy

South African international CIK-FIA Academy karter comes home from Alhambra Finland having learned more than he has in the rest of his karting career in the three-race series catering for 51 leading kart racers selected by their local governing bodies to represent their country over three meetings across Europe.

“You learn to be tough in these races,” Charl conceded after making the final in his best qualifying effort to date before climbing from 29th to 23rd only to be eliminated with three laps left to run. “It’s important to know where to overtake and where to place your kart — there are just so many karts all over the place and it’s so easy to be passed by ten karts or be bumped off.

“We came here to the Academy looking mainly to learn and I think I have learned so much -- I have to thank MSA and the CIK-FIA Academy for this incredible opportunity. “We made the final on all three weekends and I think my driving and my understanding of racing has grown so much!”

Durbanville Cape Town driver Charl returns straight to race action at home, when he travels to Vereeniging for the next round of the South African MSA Academy this coming weekend.
