500kW RTR Ranger the maddest of all

A new force in South African tuning, Road To Race has unleashed a range of super-Mustangs and Rangers, which benefit a significant level of re-engineering to deliver an exquisite and unique range of bespoke performance cars.

Comprising a trio of Rangers and a Mustang, the new RTR Ranger range is topped by a 500kW supercharged V8 RTR Ranger 660 like never before. There is also a 325kW V8 RTR Ranger 415 and a 185kW RTR Ranger 250 powered by a tweaked 3.2-litre turbodiesel. All RTR Rangers include various levels of chassis, suspension, drivetrain and brake enhancements; along with aerodynamic and interior trim upgrades.

RTR Ranger 660
The most exclusive RTR Ranger of all — the 660 is powered by a 500kW (660 horsepower) supercharged 5-litre Coyote V8 – the same engine as the RTR Mustang coupled to a 6-speed Tremec manual gearbox driving the rear wheels.

Sporting upgraded Fox suspension and brakes, 18" RTR Wheels and performance-rated tyres as well as unique, state of the art body kit and interior upgrades, the RTR Ranger 660 has to be the ultimate in bakkies.

RTR Ranger 660 also benefits a unique and much needed chassis stiffener, an anti-tramp bar and a lowered diff ratio for lightning acceleration, while RTR offers a 20" wheel and tyre option on the 660, as well as a Bespoke RTR Brake upgrade. The 20" wheel upgrade is required when fitting the brake upgrade.

RTR Ranger 660 also gets a colour-matched full body kit including wheelarch flares, a RTR grille and bonnet scoop and a tailgate panel. Add RTR badging and striping, a RTR stainless steel engine badge and chassis plaque; a RTR roll bar, side steps and a rubberized load bay. The RTR Ranger 660’s cabin gains Alcantara upholstery with RTR branded carpets, seats and a dash plaque.

RTR Ranger 415
The RTR Ranger 415 gets a 325kW (415 horsepower) normally aspirated version of the quad-overhead camshaft 32-valve Coyote 5-litre V8 turning a Tremec Magnum XL 6-speed manual gearbox with a revised differential ratio.

RTR Ranger 415 gains Bilstein gas pressure shock absorbers in its lowered front and softened rear suspension, with the RTR 660’s Fox full performance suspension available as an option. RTR 415 also gets 18" RTR Wheels and performance-rated tyres, a colour coded full body kit including flares, a RTR grille, and bonnet scoop and a tailgate panel. There is also RTR badging and striping, a RTR stainless steel engine badge and chassis plaque and a dash plaque.

RTR Ranger 415 options include a RTR roll bar, side steps and a rubberized load bay as well as Bespoke RTR Brakes, which will require a 20” wheel and tyre upgrade.

RTR Ranger 250
Bakkie fans and diesel lovers who may want the aesthetic advantages of those V8s without the engine transplant, also have a most attractive RTR option in the RTR Ranger 250. The turbodiesel RTR benefits a healthy gain in power and performance over a standard Ranger 3.2-litre 5-cylinder Duratorq TDCI, whether that be in automatic or manual, 4x2 or 4x4.

RTR tweaked to produce 185kW (250 horsepower) and 550Nm, the 38kW upgraded turbodiesel Ranger 250 benefits Unichip tuning and a down pipe exhaust and is likely to be the most popular model on the range considering that it comes with the same RTR body and trim kit and other optional upgrades as the RTR Ranger 415.

T-Rex and RSR Rangers
In addition to the three RTR Rangers, Road To Race offers a pair of aggressive, aesthetics-only upgrades in its T-Rex and RSR kits. The Ranger T-Rex body option includes flared wheel arches, a raised bonnet scoop, bulky front bumper and tail gate detail, all designed to stand out, supplied and fitted in the existing bakkie’s body colour along with various wheel and tyre options.

The RSR kit includes flared wheel arches, bonnet and scoop, front bumper and tail gate along with wheel and tyre options in a range that is already available for the RTR Ranger, with other popular bakkie kits set to follow soon.
