A hectic year in store for Charl & Kyle
Cape Town karting brothers Charl and Kyle Visser are all set for what promises to be a hectic 2018 season, starting at Killarney’s opening Western Province championship opener Saturday 10 February. Charl is out to go one better on his rookie season SA Junior Max championship runner up effort last season alongside an Italian Rok campaign, while SA under 10 class Mini Rok champion Kyle doubles up with a full tilt at the Mini Rok title alongside a Mini Max campaign this year.
Charl starts out as one of the WP Junior Max favourites aboard his Charl Electric FA Kart, with his older rivals having now graduated to senior classes, but he will nonetheless have his hands full with a few rivals who now move up to renew some old rivalries in the high school class. “My big competition from last year, Jason Coetzee and Sebastian Boyd have moved up now, but that does not mean it will be any easier,” South Africa’s 2017 CIK-FIA Academy championship racer Charl warned.
“My old Maxterino rivals, Joseph Oelz, Joshua Dolinschek, Tate Bishop, Kai van Zyl and a few others are now all in Junior Max and none of them can be taken for granted, so it’s going to be a pretty hectic year in the WP championship. “The nationals are also going to be huge — there are some really quick guys upcountry too so that should be fun, but I am most looking forward to racing Junior Rok in Italy with Baby Race this year — I can’t wait for that!”
Little brother Kyle is also keyed up to race this year and he’s looking forward to double Max and Rok duty this year. “We won the under-ten class in Mini Rok last year, but I want to go one better and win the class overall with my faithful Zanardi chassis this year.” Kyle smiled. “And we’re also racing Mini Max using a Charl Electric FA Kart chassis, so we have a busy season ahead.
"Charl and me want to thank my dad and our engineer Zefrey Ngoben in advance for the year ahead — we are ready to race!”
