Lupini hopes forecast is true

Franschhoek youngster Giordano Lupini heads to the fifth round of the Burly Pro GTi Challenge at Killarney on Saturday 10 August looking to consolidate his championship lead following a rollercoaster weekend last time out. Lupini and his CIR Construction/ La Vie de Luc/ Accelerate Special Gasoline Golf 1 GTi lead both the overall and Class C before title chases, but there’s nothing Giordano wants more than to do the double on Saturday.

“The objective is for a double win this weekend,” Giordano confirmed. “We did the double three times earlier in the season, but we only managed to take one race of the two in the last two meetings, so it would be good to get back to that early season form. “The weather has prevented us from doing much running since last race and we have a few clear days now, so we should be ready.”

Long-term weather forecasts however, predict a wet Woman's Day weekend at Killarney. “We have not really had a proper wet race this year,” Giordano, who thrives on racing in the wet concluded. “The track has been slick and drying a few times and one or two qualifying sessions were wet, but so far next weekend looks like rain, so I’m doubly looking forward to that!”
