There is no rest for the wicked in Western Cape Rotax Max karting right now as drivers rush to prepare for the seventh round of the local championship on 14 September, a week before the Max National Finals at Zwartkops. It’s tight going in several of the WP title races too, so the lads will be paying full attention.

Jason Coetzee will be racing four weekends on the trot as he dovetails his fledgling main circuit career with his karting commitments, but he has Dino Stermin to deal with in DD2 — his rival has come from a long way behind and now only a few points separate the two in the title chase. Don’t ignore Jonathan Thomas and Sebastian Boyd running interference, or Jarryd Evans and Waldo de Wet for that matter. Its just as tight on old man’s DD2 Masters where Roy Gruer, Conor Hughes and Marco Viegas are fighting it out.

Charl Visser earned a slight reprieve to open his Senior Max title advantage up to a handful of points last time out and has Kai van Zijl all over his back, while Simon Simpson-Heath, Storm Lanfear, Andrew Thomas and Reece Oellerman are also factors. Troy Dolinschek has Tate Bishop and last weekend’s winner Kyle Visser to deal with in high school Junior Max with Storm Lanfear, Luca Wehrli and Kyle le Riche looking quite handy too.

In primary school action, Ethan Stier has a fair under-13 Mini Max lead over Jason MacBeath, Mikhail Fernandez and Paul Malcolm, with Valentino Hoffman ready to pounce and Mischa Williams looking to keep her recent turn of form on the run. It's far closer in under 11 Micro Max though, as Reese Koorzen and Reza Levy continue to fight it out with Joshua Smit and the three Ethans, Deacon, Lennon and Stier in close attendance.

The baby Bambino class is growing by the meeting, but Rayan Karriem remains the kid to beat with Jordon Wadeley, Luan Mostert, Kai van Rensburg, Rebecca Wadeley and Nikolas Louw among the gang after his blood. Mini Max meanwhile sees Joaquin de Oliveira fighting Lucas Royston and Joshua Smit for title honours.

The Killarney Kart Track is on the infield of the main circuit with good food and refreshments available, informative commentary; a cool atmosphere in the pits and great racing on track.
