Domination the order of the day in Killarney Max races

A cool Killarney Kart Track played host to a hard fought third round of the Western Cape Rotax Max Challenge karting championship on Saturday. While the action was fraught throughout, four of the eight class winners remained unbeaten on the day.

DD2 winner Sebastian Boyd was not one of those to dominate. He had to play second fiddle to Joseph Oelz in the opening heat. Oelz took that win, a second and a third, behind third man overall, Jason Coetzee in the second heat, for second on the day. Jared Jordan was one of the four to go unbeaten in DD2 Masters. He defeated Conor Hughes, en route to their fourth and fifth overall.

Charl Visser romped to a Senior Max triple over Matthew Wadeley and Storm Lanfear, who lost second on the day to a second heat nose cone penalty. Zac Laden, Julius Schwager and Ethan Stier followed. Reese Koorzen joined the Clean Sweep Club with a high school Junior Max triple over William Marshall and Joshua Smit. He benefited from Jordon Wadeley’s nose cone penalty to steal a podium position.

The primary school classes witnessed two more clean sweep performances. Keagan Beaumont went unbeaten in under-13 Mini Max ahead of Nicholas Lennox, Franco Bensch, Liam Koekemoer, newcomer Aleksandar Praizovic and Zach McAuley. Liam Wharton did the same over the duelling Michael O'Mahoney and Jayden van der Merwe, Carter Cedras, Zac Hindley, and Mia Hermanus in under-11 Micro Max.

Yaqeen Gamieldien surprised with a fine two race to one baby Bambino victory over Michael O'Mahoney. Radhi Harris was consistent in third all day ahead of a tussle between Carter Cedras, Slater Smith, Caleb Lingeveldt, Ebrahim Khalpey, Jake Steyn and Jacques Lewis. Rotax Max regional action continues at iDube in KZN this coming weekend. The Cape gang then returns to action after a short break on Saturday 4 June.
