Born & raised in South Africa, Kelvin started his racing career in Karting at the age of 8 in 2006. Since then, Kelvin went on to win two South African Karting Championships in 2008 and 2010 and a Senior Circuit South African Championship in Engen Volkswagen Polo Cup. 

In 2011 Kelvin became the youngest ever driver to compete in a National South African Senior Circuit event at age 14 and a the end of the 2011 season, Kelvin won the Volkswagen Cup rookie championship as well as finishing 3rd in his debut season in the series.

In 2012, Kelvin became South Africa’s youngest ever national champion at 16 years and 128 days old when he won the Engen VW Polo Cup Championship, the previous record was held by his uncle, Etienne van der Linde, who won the South African National Formula Vee title in 1994 at the age of 16 years and 270 days. 

2013 was a breakthrough year for Kelvin as he made even more history when he won his first International Championship. At the age of 17, Kelvin became the youngest ever winner of the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup and earned his place as a Volkswagen supported Junior driver for the 2014 season. 

Leading on from the previous year’s success, Kelvin wrapped up back to back European titles with the Volkswagen Group when he became the youngest ever ADAC GT Masters Champion at age 18 driving an Audi R8 LMS Ultra. Kelvin has been supporting the VW Group since he started his main circuit career in 2011 and has earned a spot in Audi’s official driver pool of GT Drivers competing worldwide.
