Visser opens Rotax National season in perfect style

Charl Michael Visser commenced his Rotax karting grand slam season in perfect style with a dominant National debut DD2 gearbox class display at the season opening South African championships at Killarney over the weekend. Multiple national champion in most Rotax classes over the years, in the Polo Cup and the overall lap record holder at both Kyalami and Zwartkops in his Endurance racing campaign, Charl has traditionally raced chain drive karts.

“I’m not sure why, but I’ve always wanted to race the direct drive gearbox Rotax DD2 karting class, but somehow we never got round to it,” Charl pointed out. “So this year we thought, what the hell, let’s just do it! It’s a new year, a new class and a little to learn with the shifting and brakes all-round, but it got off to a very good start after a great weekend at my Killarney home track. Man, that was fun!

“I dialled my new equipment in, put it on pole and it really was a flawless weekend from there. Everything went according to plan as we won all three heats to get the season off to the perfect start. I’d like to thank my Gazoo Racing South Africa team, KR Africa, Kyle Lawrence, Kian Spies and my loyal engineer Zefrey for a great weekend. And my mum and dad and brother Kyle for all the support. On to the next one!”
