Purificati dominates Delmas ZX10 Masters

The SunBet ZX10 Masters supported by Tork Craft tools pack continued to make hay while the sun shone at the second round of the National Extreme Festival at Red Star near Delmas on Saturday. With dominant double champion Clinton Seller sitting out another round as he sorts an old injury, his rivals headed by Damion Purificati, Keith Agliotti and Hein McMahon took full advantage.

Class B man Purificati played the four qualifying sessions to a tee to put his Amalgam Welding ZX10 on pole position alongside Class A duo, McMahon’s K9 Law Enforcement XPO and Agliotti’s TNB Ridgeway machines. Class C leader James Barson’s Proproof bike headed row 2 ahead of Trevor Westman’s Wayward Project Sixty, Henk Kruger’s Zeemans and Reginald Seale’s HCS AS Bike Wise machines.

Ad Van Dalen, Pieter Delport and Dirk Stols started on row 3, Byron Rothquel, Renatus van Niekerk and Robert Ferreira row 4 and Joao Cruz, Robert Ferreira, and Tyron Piper on the fifth row. Alfie Swanepoel, Stephen Galgoczy, Ian Harwood TRP and Nico Zietsman closed off the 19-bike grid.

Damion Purificati made a lightning start to leave Keith Agliotti to fend Hein McMahon and James Barson off en route to the opening race win, with Henk Kruger, Ad van Dalen, Trevor Westman and Reginald Seale in chase. Dirk Stols, Pieter Delport and Byron Rothquel closed off the top ten with van Niekerk, Piper, Ferreira, and Cruz next. Harwood and Zietsman followed while Swanepoel and Galgoczy hit trouble.

Purificati once again dominated race 2, leaving McMahon under pressure from Agliotti and Barson and that’s how they finished. Van Dalen meantime nicked fifth from Kruger, with Seale and Rothquel in chase, while Westman fought back from a terrible start to nick ninth from Delport. Stols followed from Ferreira, Piper, and Cruz as Galgoczy, Harwood and Zietsman closed off the runners after van Niekerk fell.

With Clinton Seller and another quick man, Jayson Lamb, who shared the Killarney wins with Purificati expected back for round 3, the rest of the season may well be all about how well Damion Purificati keeps the rest behind as the season progresses. Don’t miss the next instalment of SunBet ZX10 Masters supported by Tork Craft tools at Zwartkops’ third round Extreme Festival on Saturday 23 May.
