All three riders in Roof of Africa top ten

Husqvarna Racing returned from the 'Mother of Hard Enduro’ Motul Roof of Africa with a pot of gold after all three of its riders delivered top ten finishes in perhaps the most gruelling race in the world through Lesotho’s Maluti Mountains. British extreme enduro legend Graham Jarvis ended up fourth by all of two seconds after thirteen and a half hours of riding aboard his Rockstar Energy Husqvarna, with SA Pepson Plastics Husqvarna duo, Brett Swanepoel fifth and Matthew Green seventh.

Jarvis had a strong run in Thursday morning's Round the Houses and ended second in the Endurocross that afternoon before a tough first day of racing in the mountains on Friday saw him home fourth overall. Jarvis then enjoyed a clean run on Saturday’s shorter loop to deliver the fastest time of the day en route to fourth overall.

“The Roof was a blast as always,” Graham admitted. “I really enjoyed the Round the Houses and Endurocross on Thursday, but Friday was really tough. “We bounced back with the fastest time on Saturday and finished up fourth overall — my Rockstar Husquvarna was on point all weekend and it was great to be back racing in Lesotho — thanks to everyone for a great weekend,” the British veteran concluded.

Salt Rock KZN star Brett Swanepoel enjoyed a strong run throughout the Roof of Africa weekend in the Malutis aboard his Pepson Plastics Husqvarna : “That’s three days in Lesotho done and dusted and I am delighted with fifth overall in the Gold class in my comeback Roof of Africa,” Brett explained.

“I had a great run on the Prologue and started fourth on Friday’s first loop and I had two hectic but solid days in the mountains to come home fifth overall for a gold medal. “Thanks so much to my Pepson Plastics Husqvarna team for a great bike as always and all the support through a tough year in the saddle — now we are ready for a full season at full strength next year — bring it on!"

Nottingham Road KZN hard enduro expert Matthew Green delivered a brilliant final day to bounce back to seventh overall with the fourth quickest time on Saturday: “There is so much to take out of my 2019 Roof,” young gun Green admitted. “I qualified a decent fifth but I had some unlucky issues and that cost me a lot of time after nursing the bike back home on the first day in the mountains.

“Day 2 was great though and I was happy to prove that I can hold the pace to finish off strong with fourth on the day and seventh overall in the Gold class. “I’m stoked with my result in such a strong field — congrats to all the gold finishers — this really was a tough one and thank you so much to my Pepson Plastics Husqvarna team, mechanics, supporters and sponsors for making all this possible!

“That was a great Roof of Africa and a fine way to close off a tough but rewarding 2019 race season for Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Racing with Liqui Moly,” Husqvarna South Africa Motorcycles brand manager Fred Fensham concluded. “Our British Rockstar Energy Husqvarna hard enduro superstar Graham Jarvis missed out on a podium by just two seconds and our local lads Brett Swanepoel and Matthew Green both starred in Lesotho.

“That was a brilliant effort across the board — well done lads. “That’s also the wrap for 2019 — see you all for a whole new season early in the new year!"
