Wadeley, Jordan, Wehrli, Human, Boshoff. Gamieldien & Govender take titles

The South African Rotax Max Challenge karting season came to a scintillating close with the final round Western Province championships at a warm Killarney on Saturday. An entertaining day of racing ended with a delighted Matthew Wadeley crowned the Cape DD2 champion while Jarred Jordan took the Masters crown and Luca Wehrli the Senior Max title. Sebastiano Human emerged Junior Max champion while Max Boshoff topped Mini, Yaqeen Gamieldien Micro Max and Divaaj Govender is WP Bambino champion.

Young gun Anwil April took the opening Rotax DD2 heat from Jason Coetzee, who then struck back with the heat two and 3 wins to take the day from April while Matthew Wadeley cruised home third to take the title. Tony Auby ended fourth from Ethan Stier. Champion Jared Jordan shared the Rotax DD2 Masters wins with Conor Huges and Neville Chapman, but Jordan still did enough to take the day from Huges, Chapman and Michael Jordan.

Charl Visser and Keagan Beaumont may have shared out the Senior Max wins as Beaumont won the day from the consistent Jordon Wadeley, but it was Luca Wehrli, who cruised home third for the day to emerge 2025 Rotax Western Cape Senior Max champion. Visser suffered a final heat issue to slump to fourth for the day from Junior graduate Sebastiano Human and Jesse Swart off an impressive 12 kart grid.

Sebastiano Human meantime closed off his high school Junior Max career as Western Cape Champion after taking the day. He did so on a countback to his first and final heat wins after middle race winner Keenan du Plessis tied with him on overall points for the day. Aiden Beaumont, Ruan Lewis, Mini Max graduate Justin Milleskie and Michael Danks closed off the top six.

Unlike many of his 2025 Western Cape Rotax Max champion peers, Max Boshoff spared no energy as he dominated Saturday’s three heats to clinch the under-13 Mini Max title. Ruhan Victor did enough to end up second overall from Alanzo Dias, Jozi visitor Brodi Dowling, Liam Wharton and Michael O’Mahoney off another most encouraging twelve-kart grid.

Yaqeen Gamieldien meantime overcame a troubled opening heat to win the other two races and take the day to clinch the 2025 Western Province Rotax under-eleven Micro Max title. Slater Smith came home second from Jake Steyn, Lehan Fourie, Caleb Lingeveldt and Ebrahim Khalpey after surprise opening heat winner Logan Roehrig failed to start the second race.

Aleena Doutie finally broke champion Divaaj Govender’s Cape Bambino stranglehold with a final heat victory, but that would not prevent Govender from picking up another winner’s trophy for the day from Doutie, Ashlyn Beaumont, newcomer Zaid Panday, Emelee Adriaans and Yaseen Panday as he romped to the title.

“And so ends another classic year of South African Rotax Max Challenge karting,” Rotax SA karting boss Ed Murray concluded. “Congratulations to our Western Cape Champions for 2025, and of course to our already crowned Northern Regions and National Champions too. Now for the big one. The National Team will head to the 2025 Rotax Max ‘Olympics of Karting’ Grand Finals in Bahrain over the first week of December.”
