Mostert (6) scoops his first second

Luan Mostert may be just six years old, but that does not mean that the intrepid Durbanville karter is not ready to fight for glory as he did en route to his first second place at the third round of the Western Cape Karting Championship at Killarney this past Saturday.

Luan started racing late last year and on Saturday he stepped up to second on the podium after the first race en route to his second third overall result in a row. “I had an awesome day’” Luan confirmed. “I did a lot of overtakes and I am learning to be brave while also being safe and I am very happy to be improving at every race.

“Today I was second in the first race and then I came third twice and I am extremely honored to share the podium with the two most experienced boys in Cadets thanks to my mom Bianca, my dad Andre; oupa Franco Donadio and Craig Harker, as well as Luke and Les Herring, Brad Wadley for his engine work and of course uncle Kito Perdigao who is such a big influence in the pits!”

“We have the national next at Killarney at the end of April and I have been invited to race the Cadet race so we will be racing against some guys from Johannesburg. “I am so exited!”
