Little Mostert just keeps improving

One of the littlest kids in karting this year, seven-year old Luan Mostert just keeps on progressing as Saturday’s fifth round Western Province races at Killarney so well proved. Mostert had his best results yet with a fine second overall following a couple of seconds and a third on the day.

“I had an amazing day today,” Luan admitted. “Race 1 wasn’t very exciting, but I was happy with second even if I could not catch Reese Koorzen, but I was much closer in race 2 and we had a good dice until I made a mistake in Hoals. I was happy with the fastest lap while trying to catch Reese again and I started race 3 in pole position!

“But Josh Smit and me had a little bump and I spun and had to wait for everyone to pass, but I gave it my best and fought back to third, which gave me second for the day and my best result yet!” Luan also won the Kito Kup for best Cadet driver of the day, when he made his first, touching speech at prize giving thanking his loved ones.

“I would like to thank all my supporters,” Luan said. “Thanks especially to Kito Perdigao for all the hours spent on setting up a competitive kart and to all my sponsors, my mom and dad and my grandpa.”
