Karting kid Norman eyes another victory

Stellenbosch seven year old Eric Norman is raring to go as he plans to keep on winning at the second round of the Western Province Karting championships at the Killarney kart track Saturday 3 March following his first-ever race win aboard his Body Elite Topkart in the under-8 Cadet class last time out. Norman is on a high after that hard-earned first victory and wants nothing less than more success next time out.

“Last race was such a blast!” Rhenish Primary School Grade 2 kid Eric explained. “Winning was not easy — I had a huge dice with Ian Joubert and Luan Mostert and I am sure they will fight back next week so it’s going to be hard work again, but we will be ready. “I have done a lot more practice laps since the last race, my dad and the team have worked hard on the kart and we have a very good engine from Ed Murray Racing, so we are ready.

“I could not race without my dad’s support or all the people who are behind us and also the marshals, the official and the WPMC Kart Club who make it all possible, so thanks to all of them and my rivals, Ian, Luan and everyone else — let’s race!”
