O’Connor rules the Vaal
Cameron O’Connor came, saw and conquered the Northern Regions Karting Championship second round races at Vereeniging’s Laserfiche Raceway on Saturday.
The Johannesburg youngster utterly dominated the DD2 shifter class with a pole position and three impressive race wins while missing the chance to do the same in Senior Max when he lost the final by a few hundredths of a second. But young O’Connor duly won the day to make it a splendid double.
“I am really happy with my DD2 result today — we worked hard after I struggled there earlier in the year, so this is a really good result. “It’s a pity Bradley Liebenberg has trouble in the first two races because I really enjoyed racing him in the final - that was a close one!
“We also had a very good weekend in Senior Max — I won the first two heats quite easily, but Daniel Duminy and Joshua Dias found good pace as the day went on and we had a great scrap in the final and Josh drove very well. “Still it's great to win two classes in a day — thanks to my folks and the team for making it happen — it is so good to win for them!”
