SACS College Grade 10 kid Sebastian Boyd continued to find good pace though the fourth round of the Western Cape DD2 karting championship races over the weekend. Boyd ended up third after a positive day following a trio of hard dices with old rival Jason Coetzee in spite of skipping qualifying when unpredicted rain turned the Killarney Kart Track into more of a skating rink on Saturday morning.

“We decided to skip quali because it was too risky and we’d rather have the kart in one piece for the start of the first race and we’d still be well enough up the grid to still compete anyway,” Sebastian explained. “So I had to deal with a few guys in the first race, which was pity in the end because I could not pass an on form Jarryd Evans and so unable to challenge Jason for the win after Jurie Swart retired.  

“I fought over second with Jason in the second and third heats, but he just had enough to deal with me in the end. “We had better pace this weekend and we only need a little more to be part of the lead dice every time, so we will be working hard to be there for the wildcard African Open at Zwartkops in June — I can’t wait!”
