But Duminy’s GTC debut shows promise

Daniel Duminy may have endured a Global Touring Cars baptism of fire at Dezzi Raceway on Saturday, but the Ballito teenager can take several positives out of a tough weekend. Duminy led his first lap in the series on the day he became the  youngest driver yet to race in GTC, but technical issues and some robust racing thwarted his efforts.

“That was a really hectic day that didn’t really end how we wanted it to, but I have many positives to take home,” Daniel admitted. “The first race was wild in the beginning and I lost ground early on, but we started on pole in race 2 and I led the race before running into some issues that cost us a good result.

“So it's a huge thank you to the team for all the hard work and to my sponsors for making this dream come true. “We will be back and fighting at Zwartkops for sure, so it’s onwards and upwards from there — bring it on!"
