Get set for a proper north versus south supercar showdown when the G+H South African National GT3 G+H Transport Extreme Supercars descend on Killarney in Cape Town for their seventh-round races at Saturday 17 September’s Extreme Festival. With more than 20 cars expected to race and a significant contingent travelling down from Gauteng to take on a strong local contingent, the racing promises to be of the finest order.

Franco Scribante proved the man to beat aboard his Turbo 911 Porsche at the previous round at East London. Until that point, it was all about Jonathan du Toit’s Trans Africa Racing Lamborghini Huracan and Charl Arangies’ Pagid Stradale Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 and their battle for overall honours.

The effervescent Ben Morgenrood is another top class regular to look out for in is wild NASCAR Chevy V8-powered mid-engined Lexus. All those unlimited Class A+ men will however have the significant factor of local hero Dayne Angel and his rapid Autohaus Angel Porsche 911 turbo to deal with at Killarney.

Overall and Balance of Performance GT3 class championship leader Greg Parton and his Drizit Lamborghini Huracan will likewise have more than his fair share of competition at the Cape Town National Extreme Festival races. Local Autohaus Angel wildcards, Marcel Angel’s 488 GT3 and Jason Ibbotson in a 458 GT3 will also be out to impress their home crowd.

Never rule out GT3 regulars Marius Jackson’s MJR Audi R8 LMS GT3, Gianni Giannoccaro’s G+H Transport Nissan GT-R GT3, Ricky Giannoccaro’s G+H Transport Lamborghini Gallardo Trofeo in that spat. Or Mark du Toit’s Trans Africa Ferrari 430 GT3 and Damian Hammond and his Trinity Security Lamborghini Trofeo.

There’s also abundant interest in the other classes, where Nicky Dicks and Ant Blunden’s new Porsche 991.2 Cup cars will have to deal with Paarl stalwart Dawie Joubert’s similar car. Exciting young gun Kwanda Mokoena’s Amandla Coal MJR Audi R8 GT4 will also be out against the likes of Jimmy Giannoccaro’s Lamborghini Trofeo.

And if the local rumour mill is to be believed, Jozi Loureiro brothers Rick and Paulo and Capetonian Mansoor Parker’s BMW turbos may have something different to deal with in Killarney favourite Nain du Toit’s NDT version. Others to keep an eye on include Uli Sanne’s BMW Z4 M Coupe and PE visitor Ian Riddle’s Alfa Romeo,

The epic G+H Transport Extreme Supercars will race as part of a full Cape Town National Extreme Festival program at Killarney on Saturday 6 August. Sounds like a great day at the races!
