Pretoria set for Extreme Supercar Finale

Pretoria is set for a sensational day of supercar racing at Zwartkops on Saturday 15 October, if the last race in Cape Town was anything to go by. The G+H Transport South African National Extreme Supercars stunned at Killarney last time out.

One could not throw a blanket over Jonathan du Toit’s TAR Lamborghini Huracan, Charl Arangies’ Pagid Audi R8 LMS GT3 and Franco Scribante’s Porsche 911 Turbo as each of them won a race at Killarney. Now the show moves to Zwartkops for the season finale on Saturday 15 October and while they all arrive as favourites, it’s by no means a sure bet that any of them will win.

Cape hero Dayne Angel had to take his dad’s Ferrari 488 GT3 over after his rapid Autohaus Angel Porsche 911 Turbo suffered fire damage last time out. He should be back in the German machine for Zwartkops and ready to take revenge. Marcel Angel will take his Ferrari back, while teammate Jason Ibbotson will be out to continue his GT3 class winning form in the Autohaus Angel Ferrari 458 GT3 in Pretoria.

He may not find it all that easy up in Pretoria though, especially since Balance of Performance GT3 class championship leader Greg Parton is likely to have his rumbling new Drizit Mercedes-AMG GT3 out to clinch that title. Not that it’s a gimme either, with the likes of Marius Jackson’s MJR Audi R8 LMS GT3, Gianni Giannoccaro’s BISC Transport Nismo GTR, Ricky Giannoccaro’s G+H and Damian Hammond’s Trinity Security Lamborghini Gallardo, Mark du Toit’s TAR Ferrari 430 GT3, in the mix.

Also watch for The effervescent Ben Morgenrood’s wild NASCAR Chevy V8-powered mid-engined Lexus, Class A men Imaad Modack’s MIM BMW M3 and Xolile Letlaka’s Lamborghini. Class B should be a straight fight between Nicky Dicks, Ant Blunden and Gary Kieswetter’s Porsche 911 Cups and Deon du Plessis’ KTM X-Bow, with young Kwanda Mokoena’s Class C Audi R8 in pursuit.

And Paarl man Dawie Joubert’s Wild Rose Gin Porsche 991, Uli Sanne’s BMW Z4 M Coupe and PE visitor Ian Riddle’s Alfa Romeo are the ones to watch in Class D. The epic G+H Transport Extreme Supercars will race as part of a full final round National Championship Extreme Festival program at Killarney on Saturday 6 August.
