Class leaders Jurie, Tate & Chase in overall fight

The Alert Engine Parts GTi Challenge returns to Killarney International Raceway to thrill its faithful Cape fans with the championship down to a race between two drivers with four races still to run. Class A championship leader Jurie Swart, top Class B lad Tate Bishop and Class C top man Chase Herholdt will fight it out for top honours.

Jurie Swart arrives and his Summit Racing Polo 6R arrive at Killarney a handful of points ahead in the overall chase and basically in an unassailable class lead. He will have his work cut out though, if Marco Busi has anything to do with it in his Automan machine in the mostly Polo 6R Class A field.

Others to watch in the top class include the ever improving Kai van Zyl’s Unlimited Auto Angri car, GTi veterans IPP lad Colin Meder and Dillon Joubert’s Powder Coating World Polo, Interceptor Racing’s Dewald Theron, and rookies, Summit lad Nathan Victor, Schalk Geldenhuys’ G+A car and Cooltouch man Raaziegh Harris.

Tate Bishop has made Class B his own this year as he chases that overall gong in his Angri Racing Academy Jetta 2. Bishop too, has a target on his back in his class B. Ian Kapp’s Hydracor Hydraulics Polo 6R and Polo Classic pair, Summit lad Kyle Wiltshire John-Henri Vaughan’s Maps car are among those out for Tate’s blood.
Byron Mitchell’s is another hot Class B youngster to watch in his Dolphin Engineering Golf 1, while Grant Cloete’s UpStream Connect Golf 2, Marc Thompson MAD Somerset Refrigeration Polo Classic and Wayne Field’s Jetta 2 can be assured to entertain in the class midfield.

Class C Chase Herholdt may have sold his regular blue Unlimited Auto NDT GTi, but he will be racing another quick red car this weekend. He will have to fight off Brat Pack regulars, Summit Racing lad Seth van de Abeele, brothers Ryan and Dylan van Eden’s Ruthnarue Racing car and Matthew Rowe’s Veldt Reared GTi. Add GP Tyres MAD lad Tahier Khalpey, Sulaiman Effendi’s TikTok car, Daniel Munna and Spice Mecca Racing driver Nur Abass, all of whom have their own points to prove.

All of which means that the penultimate round Alert Engine Parts GTi Challenge will thrill Killarney as always, alongside a full Power Tour program on Saturday 22 October. Be there!
