Charl Michael sets fastest lap, team wins 4 Hour

Cape Town race driver Charl Michael Visser rejoined the South African Endurance Racing fold in style as his team romped home the winners of the Kyalami 4 Hour over the weekend. Racing with international drivers Nick Adcock and Dane Michael Jensen in the Rico Barlow Racing Nova NP02 once again, Volkswagen Motorsport SupaCup driver Visser set a record fastest lap as the field raced to the flag after dark on Saturday evening.

The crew qualified second and settled down in fourth early in the race, biding their time within the top five in a field packed with the cream of SA racing talent. The Nova moved into the lead in the final hour before clearing off to victory. “Firstly I would like to thank my team Rico Barlow Racing and Claudio Piazza Musso for preparing an incredible car this weekend. Without you guys we really couldn’t achieve what we did.

“It was also great to be teamed up with Nick Adcock and Michael Jensen once again after our previous success earlier in the year. And a big thank you to my teammates for their excellent stints to put us in the best possible position in the race. A massive thank you to my parents Charl Visser and Corne Visser, and brother Kyle, for making this happen. I can’t thank you guys enough. And lastly big thank you to Dunlop and Motul for their contribution.

Charl Michael Visser returns to regular action on home ground for Volkswagen Motorsport in the SATC SupaCup at Killarney next on Saturday 21 September.
