SATC changes for Chemical Logistics racing with Investchem

It’s all change for Chemical Logistics racing with Investchem in South African Touring Cars for the Blockbuster Extreme Festival presented by Coca Cola at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit Saturday 12 April.

“An intriguing game of musical chairs played out in our team for 2025 and that’s continued into the second round,” team principal Ian Schofield explains. “We trust that from Kyalami on it will now all be settled, and we can now look forward to an exciting season ahead. Some of our rivals have also now cemented plans, so here’s to a most exciting year of South African Touring Cars!”

With champion Robert Wolk taking a season off to concentrate on other projects, his place in the Chemical Logistics FAST BMW 128tc was taken by SATC sophomore Anthony Pretorius in the Killarney season owner. Pretorius went on to win in the Cape, but he has subsequently left to take on an international racing program and will be replaced by Keegan Campos with additional backing from Campos Transport from Kyalami.

“I truly cannot wait for the weekend,” 2024 SATC SupaCup sophomore Keegan admits. “I’m stepping into the champion car, a race into the season, so there cannot be any excuses and Kyalami is always a big weekend, but where better to take the big step?”  Campos steps in alongside Andrew Schofield’s FlySafair Chemical Logistics FAST BMW 128tc. “We made good progress at Killarney, but we were also short of luck, so here’s to better at Kyalami,” Andy admitted. “Bring it on!”

Moving across to the Volkswagen side of the Chemical Logistics pit box, former Investchem Formula 1600 champion Julian van der Watt is looking to make up for a tough home outing in his familiar WCT Volkswagen Golf GTI. “We had great speed but rotten luck at Killarney, which turned out to be a disastrous weekend for us. The plan is to turn it all around at Kyalami. Can’t wait!”

Reigning Investchem Formula 1600 champion Jagger Robertson has been confirmed in the second  Sparco Chemical Logistics WCT Golf GTI for the rest of the season. “I am delighted to have secured my drive after an encouraging outing at Killarney,” Jagger confirmed. “The team has put its trust in me and while I still have a lot to learn, I intend making the very best of this opportunity.”

Another Investchem Formula 1600 racer, Siyabonga Mankonkwana has meantime also been confirmed for the fifth car in the Chemical Logistics line-up, the former championship winning Toyota Corolla. “I am truly honoured to be chosen to drive South African Touring Cars in the Chemical Logistics FAST Corolla,” Siya admitted. “Now I look forward to making the team proud with the best possible results.”

“We’ve restructured Chemical Logistics Racing into a two-team five-car effort with Julian and Jagger in two WCT-run Golfs, Keegan and Andy in FAST Racing-prepared Golfs and Siya in the FAST Corolla,” team manager Stuart Thompson concluded. “We’re expecting great racing at the weekend’s Blockbuster Extreme festival. See you at Kyalami!”
