Pole position, two races & overall victory at Zwartkops

Chemical Logistics Racing may not have won the war, but it certainly won all the battles as it closed off its 2025 South African Touring Car season looking at Zwartkops Raceway’s National Extreme Festival Finals presented by Coca-Cola Pretoria on Saturday. Keegan Campos put his BMW on pole position and won the opening race and Julian van der Watt took the reverse grid second race victory. His Volkswagen teammate Jagger Robertson won the day overall and Andrew Schofield enjoyed his best result of the season in his BMW.

Still, all that was not enough to win the war. “First and foremost we must congratulate Michael van Rooyen and his Gazoo Toyota team on a well-deserved and popular championship off a sterling effort all year long,” team principal Ian Schofield offered. “It was never going to be easy to stop Michael, but our Chemical Logistics team did a brilliant job trying with pole position, both race wins and the overall win to see Jagger, Julian, and Keegan to second, third and fourth in the chase. Well done to everyone on another great, hard fought season.”

South African Touring Cars rookie Jagger Robertson enjoyed a stellar season including his maiden race win before putting on a performance good enough to take overall honours on Saturday in his Chemical Logistics Volkswagen Golf GTI. “That was just enough for me to pip Julian van der Watt and Keegan Campos at the post for second in the championship,” Jagger admitted. “Second in my rookie South African Championship season? I’ll take that with both hands, thank you very much! Huge thanks to Ian, Stuart, and my entire Chemical Logistics WCT team for this incredible opportunity.”

South African Touring Cars veteran Julian van der Watt’s year took some time to get on the boil, but the latter part of his season came together strongly aboard his Chemical Logistics Volkswagen Golf GTI. “It was good to win again on Saturday and that at least helped put a little more shine on a pretty difficult season,” Julian points out. “In the end it was super close for that championship second and with all of us winning something this weekend, but still I managed third in a team 2-3-4 and that’s worth celebrating. Special thanks for another great season guys!”

Keegan Campos enjoyed both a rollercoaster weekend and season. Starting a race late, he won on debut and several times more through the season. Campos however also had his challenges to arrive at Zwartkops sitting close third in the chase. “The weekend started well when I put my Campos Transport FAST BMW 328tc on pole and won the opening race” Keegan reports. “Race 2 was tougher off the reverse grid when something gave under braking and I was in the tyre wall. Fortunately, I’m fine but my chase for second was over. Thanks to Freddie and the Chemical Logistics FAST Racing team for a fantastic season. Onward and upward!”

Zwartkops was also a positive end for Andrew Schofield, who scored his best result of the season with third in the reverse grid second heat aboard his FlySafair Investchem FAST BMW 328tc at Zwartkops. “Finishing on the podium in the final round on a great day for the entire team was a bit of a bonus after an often tough season,” Andrew concludes. “I’d like to thank every team member who contributed to a great season and now look forward to a welcome break before it all picks up again in the new year.”

Chemical Logistics Racing has some most exciting plans for the coming South African Touring Cars year, where it will also compete against another new factory team in what promises to be the best season yet. All will be revealed early in 2026!
