South African single seater racing enters a brand new era when Investchem MSA4 takes over from Formula 1600 as the country’s premier single seater racing class at Kyalami on Saturday 12 April. Following a monster effort to build the new cars in time, fourteen of these proudly South African machines will take to the track at the weekend’s Blockbuster Extreme Festival presented by Coca-Cola.

The contemporary Investchem MSA4 car is safer, stronger, and considerably more advanced too. Powered by a new turbocharged Volkswagen engine and racing on Dunlop tyres, the WCT Engineering-developed machine is designed to race efficiently and competitively in South Africa and in other emerging market single seater race series. A cracking, competitive and representative field is also ready to race at Kyalami.

With reigning final Investchem Formula 1600 champion Jagger Robertson graduating to South African Touring Cars for 2025, his former rival KC Ensor-Smith’s African Heating Investchem, Ewan Holtzhausen’s Total Plastics and  Ndzalo Khoza MakaselaAir cars form a strong Brian Kruger Racing attack. 

DAW Racing will have a strong three-car MSA4effort ready for Kyalami. Shrien Naidoo’s Production X entry and Corsa Dei Gemilli duo, Mikel Bezuidenhout back for a second wings and slicks season and karting graduate Kian Spies. Investchem Racing has experienced racer Alex Vos’ DV Building Supplies MSA4 backed by newcomer Simphiwe Mohlahlo  in a Chemical Logistics version.

Peter Jacquet Racing trio, Karabo Malemela’s KMFT Morita MSA4 sis another to start among the favourites alongside Liam Polome, back in his Red Dot Vantage version and Namibian newcomer Adriaan Nel in his Central Cycles Namibia PJR entry. Renzo Ribeiro’s Metal Used Spares ATT MSA4 is run by CDV Racing.

Champion Jagger Robertson may not be racing, but his 76 Legacy outfit will field lady karting prospect Hannah Lee Daniel in her RaceFin entry. Last but not least, veteran Rick Morris stars in a wildcard outing in the Apex Cordset car, while young Anastasia Gerasis waits to qualify for her national licence.  

Investchem MSA4 takes to the track for the first time in practice for the Blockbuster Extreme on Thursday and Friday morning before qualifying later in the day. The first race is scheduled for 10h40 Saturday morning and race 2 at 13h20. See you at Kyalami!
