South Africa once again has a crack five-man team at Silverstone in England over the coming 1-2 November weekend to compete in the 25th running of the prestigious Walter Hayes Formula Ford Trophy. The team simply has only one objective. And that’s to win! 

“After Andrew Rackstraw and KC Ensor-Smith ended second and third last year, the only thing left is to win this year’s 25th Walter Hayes Trophy,” Team patron Ian Schofield points out. “Besides Andrew and KC, we have multiple South African Touring Cars and Investchem Formula 1600 champion Robert Wolk and two more Touring Car men, another former Formula 1600 champion Julian van der Watt and Andrew Schofield backed by immense single seater talent in our technical team.”

Former Investchem South African Formula 1600 champion and reigning British Porsche Cup champion Rackstraw has an illustrious Walter Hayes record having climbed up the podium with third in 2023 and second last year. He will drive car 40, a Kevin Mills Racing Investchem Spectrum 011c at Silverstone this weekend.

Andrew races alongside inaugural 2025 South African Investchem MSA4 champion and ‘24 Walter Hayes rookie sensation Ensor-Smith in a similar car number 68. Perennial Walter Hayes competitors, Julian van der Watt will race Investchem Mygale SJ01 number 171 and Robert Wolk Mygale SJ01 number 172, and Andrew Schofield an Investchem Reynard 89FF number 72.

They will take on the leading Formula Ford drivers from around the world through the trying annual knock-out weekend at Silverstone. Qualifying and heats through Saturday will whittle the more than 100-car field down to two semi-finals of 36 cars each on Sunday morning, of which 36 will progress to the all-important finale.
