Ever since his first introduction to karting, Bloemfontein's young racing hero Stuart White was a natural behind the wheel. Racing is clearly in his blood, with dad David White well known in South African racing circles and his sister Andrea a keen kart racer.
Stuart started karting in 2006 and something just clicked as he went on to win the 2013 South African Mini Rok karting championship award and placed 5th in the Autumn Cup MiniRok Trophy in Lonato, Italy later that year.
The following year Stuart took a double primary school title to earn Junior Protea South African Colours by his Maxterino and Mini Rok titles. He placed 18th overall in the Vortex Rok World Final before the 14-year-old added his third South African title to his CV with the 2014 Junior ROK Championship before representing South Africa in the prestigious CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy against the world’s best drivers in his age group across Europe in 2015.
Stuart spent the first half of 2016 preparing for his step up to the main circuit racing in the Rotax DD2 shifter kart class before making his main circuit debut at Red Star in Formula 4 August. White had a busy second half of the 2016 race season as he dovetailed karting commitments with Formula Ford, ending third in the Junior Rok world kart finals in Italy, scoring podiums in Formula Ford and even claiming pole position for the Bulawayo 3-hour in December.
Dubbed ‘Baby Vettel’, Stewie is cutting a similar path for himself, having started out competing in karts before a career in single seaters where Stuart White now plans to emulate his race hero.
