Husqvarna star Swanepoel wins again

Pepson Plastics Husqvarna rider Brett Swanepoel tightened his stranglehold of the South African Cross Country Moto OR2 class championship with a second win on the trot at a cold and wet Battlefields 450 In Dundee KwaZulu Natal over the weekend. Swanepoel took a comfortable class win in Friday’s prologue, where he ended up third overall, before powering through to a three and a half minute Main Event victory to take overall victory by almost six minutes.

“It was cold and wet, but that was a great day all round,” Brett smiled. “I never had too much trouble throughout the Prologue and the Main Race and my Pepson Plastics Husqvarna performed immaculately all weekend and what was even better is that my closest championship rivals ended up a little down the order today and that was all very good for my championship.

"I really enjoyed the track and feel like I'm getting more confident on my Husqvarna, with a great team it really helps to achieve the results we work towards "

“We are enjoying a great season and Brett did us proud again today,” Husqvarna Motorcycles SA Brand Manager Fred Fensham explained. “Husqvarna Motorcycles are leading championships in all three disciplines of Cross Country, Enduro and Motocross and Brett’s performance just serves to underline that. “Congratulations Brett and our sponsor Iain Pepper, who brought it home seventh in Masters this weekend”

“As good as my Cross Country championship has been, my Enduro effort has been difficult,” Brett Swanepoel admitted. “I am still not on the championship board that side after missing the first round to injury and retiring from race 2, so I’m looking forward to heading to the Cape this weekend off this strong result — its time to turn all that around and join Henco on the podium down there!”

Swanepoel and Pepson Plastics Husqvarna teammate Henco Botha, who leads Enduro E1 championship; head to the Robertson Enduro this coming 19-20 May weekend.
