Road trip readies Napier
Johannesburg schoolgirl Tiffany Napier chose a different way to prepare for Saturday 28 October’s penultimate Northern Regions Junior Max kart races at Zwartkops outside Pretoria. Instead of simply going to Zwartkops to test, Tiffany and her Design Waterproofing team packed her BirelART into the van and headed to Cape Town to race in the final round of the Western Province high school championship at Killarney.
“We thought what the hell, why not make a weekend road trip out of it and go race in Cape Town rather than just practice at Zwartkops,” Tiffany grinned. “So that’s exactly what we did and we had a really good weekend. “I qualified fourth and finished fourth in the first and last races, but we had a problem in the middle one. “Still, I was happy that my times improved steadily through the weekend and now I'm looking forward to racing at home this weekend.
“We have had a pretty tough season so far in the Northern Regions races, so we are hoping for a strong weekend at Zwartkops — I had my best result yet with a second place two meetings back and I really would like to go one better so let’s hope that happens this weekend. “Thanks to all for a great weekend at Killarney and to everyone who will contribute the coming weekend at Zwartkops — we are ready!”
