Mogotsi leads SupaCup 1-2, Bertholdt stars in Polo Cup
Volkswagen Motorsport enjoyed another brilliant race weekend at the Killarney International Raceway’s penultimate National Extreme Festival Presented by Coca-Cola on Saturday. Jonathan Mogotsi led SATC SupaCup teammate Jason Loosemore to a compelling 1-2, while rookie Judd Bertholdt equalled his best result yet with a fine second in the Astron Energy Polo Cup.
“Killarney was a National Extreme Festival to remember,“ Volkswagen Head of Motorsport Mike Rowe admitted. “Maiden winner Jason Loosemore and Jonathan Mogotsi took the SATC SupaCup wins en route to a fine Volkswagen Motorsport 1-2, but we must also congratulate our main rival Tate Bishop on clinching the championship in his Angri Racing Volkswagen SupaPolo. And our rookie Judd Bertholdt continued to impress in Astron Energy Polo Cup in perfect conditions in the glorious Cape. What a weekend!
“I never quite had the pace for pole or in the first race, but my Volkswagen Motorsport team did wonders to hand me a splendid Genuine Parts Volkswagen Motorsport SupaPolo to win the second race in a team 1-2 at Killarney,” Jonathan Mogotsi explained. “That also brought me the win for the day from my teammate Jason, so all good in the end. I must congratulate Tate Bishop on his championship win, and also Jason Loosemore on his first SATC SupaCup win in heat 1 of a truly memorable weekend.”
“I had to really work for it, but I finally have my first SATC SupaCup victory in the bag,” Astron Energy Polo Cup champion Jason Loosemore admitted. “I have worked hard with my team to find that extra bit of pace we needed, but my Astron Energy Volkswagen Motorsport SupaPolo was on rails this weekend and I’m delighted to reward the guys with a win and to compete a great team 1-2 at Killarney.”
Volkswagen Motorsport Rookie Cup champion Judd Bertholdt continued to impress at the wheel of his Volkswagen Rookie Cup Polo GTI in the Astron Energy Polo Cup: “Wow, that was quite a hectic weekend with action all around!” Judd pointed out. “But I kept my head down and out of trouble, matched my best result with second in heat 2 and brought it home third for the day to keep in the hunt for that championship third and leading rookie. Thank you, Volkswagen Motorsport!”
“We are now winding down the season and have a little time to be sure that we take our best game to the Zwartkops finale on 25 October,” Mike Rowe concludes. “We want to finish in style as we have some most exciting news in the pipeline for 2026 and it would be great to close this season with something special to write home about too!”
